I was on Avandia for almost one year. I began having a period every other week. Not breakthrough bleeding but heavy bleeding. I began to gain weight again. In fact, I gained back all of the weight I had lost while on glucophage. My ankles and legs were swollen, so badly I couldn't get my shoes on some days. My NEW doctor ordered blood tests including liver studies. It appears I have liver damage which we are hoping will be reversed now that I am off the drug. I have been off it for a month now. If you are on this drug, I suggest you have regular bloodwork.
