Re: ClomidFrom: =?iso-8859-2?q?Zalányi Sámuel?= (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 21 Mar 2001 21:37:25 +0100 (MET DST)
Hi, If you are diagnosed with PCOS, I would suggest to correct it before going to clomid (alone or together with insulin sensitizers). Here is an earlier exchange of letters for further information I would suggest metformin alone for 6 mo, then combined with clomid. Ovarian drilling is passé. Sam (Ob/Gyn, RE)

> Hi everyone I'm new to this site and i was wondering if anyone out there Why haven't you stayed on met and added clomid to the scheme. Have you had any other work-up (hormonal, tubal patency, partner)? It is a must before starting on clomid. I think you have PCOS and you try to become pregnant. If these are true, you should not discontinue metformin b/c it helps to correct the metabolic imbalance forming the core of PCOS. It may help to conceive in itself. If you (or the gynecologist) do not want to wait, you may add clomid tho the scheme but not substitue clomid for metformin. Infertility is a complex issue, therefore starting on clomid may be tricky before going through a correct work-up (hormonal, hysterosalpingography to check the patency of Fallopian tubes and also examining the semen quality of your partner) That is how it goes Hope this helps Sam (Ob/Gyn, RE)
