Yes, women who do not fit the definition of IR are being treated with Met. One thing to note is that the there is not one universal standard for determining IR-the cut-off varies from one Dr. to another. The logic behind treating people who are not IR,as I understand it, is that some women may have 'normal' insulin levels but their ovaries are particularly sensitive to insulin, so even a 'normal' amount might contribute to hormonal imbalances. If you post your question at the Inciid PCOS board (link below), I bet you'll get some more specific info. good luck. I understand Met can also make a difference for those who aren't IR. Alos, it is not unusual for PCOSers to be unresponsive to clomid.
