Re: Glucophage, Actos - I'm new here

I've been on Glucophage for 8 months now. I suffered very very very slight stomach problems to begin with. (maybe 2 days of diarhea at the most) I have not suffered any more since my stomach got used to it. My doctor said that if you have problems normally your digestive system adjusts and the discomfort disappears after a very short time.

I am also on ACTOS. When I went in for my first check up in October, my doctor decided to put me on the actos along with the glucophage because my levels were not decreasing as he had hoped. I have noticed a tremendous difference now. My periods are becoming normal. (I went for 7 years without one.) Other changes are evident also. I am no longer hot all the time. My moods are more even and calm. I sleep better. I have lost some weight. How much I don't know cause my doctor told me to stay off of the scale until later because at first the weight will shift, then it will start to come off. (I am very obese despite all my efforts at weight loss. I tried and tried for years and never lost. Everytime I tried I ended up gaining 10-20 lbs. so I finally just gave up. I was gaining more slowly without dieting...LOL) The greatest thing about being on the medication for me is finally realizing that I am not a freak of nature and there is hope for me to return to a healthy life.

Good luck.

God Bless You in your struggles, Sally Coultas
