>Hi, Sorry about your loss.

I had a misscarriage at 20 weeks last year and had to have a D&C. I know how hard it is to loose a child. I also had a child 5 years ago that was born with a severe heart defect and was macrosomia (very Large baby) she was 10lbs 1 oz. I have since found out that both my losses were PCOS and IR related. My first pregnancy I had undiagnosed GDM (gestational diabetes) which can cause very large babies and heart defects. My second loss my doctor feels was do to PCOS and being IR...I was on my way to being GDM again when the misscarriage happened. As far as birth defects from Met. I know that it depletes folic acid which can cause nural tube defects. did your doctor have you take extra folic acid with your prenatal vitamins? I have not heard of omphalocele defect from met..but I do know that Insulin resistance and GDM can cause many differant types of defects. It is a very confusing thing to have to go through...but please, please dont blame yourself..I know that when I lost my babies All I wanted to know was why!!! and I Blamed myself and felt very guilty about things I had no controll over. I was on Actos my second pregnacy and quit taking it as soon as I knew I was pregnant...I cant help but wonder if I had kept taking it if I would be holding my baby right now. Sometimes the benifit can out weigh the risks...but unfortunately we never know till something happens just how much of a risk it is. Did you stop taking the Met when you found out you were pregnant..or did you keep taking it and this happened?? God bless you and please dont give up hope! and Please dont blame yourself or feel guilty...plese feel free to e mail me if you need someone to share your loss with.I am very experienced in this matter unfortunately. *HUGS* Dona >Hi everyone,
