Re: Anemia ... low iron levelsFrom: Zowie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 2 Mar 2001 07:44:32 -0600 (CST)
Hello. I have been anemic all my life and had PCOS since I started menstruating as a child. For me, it has not been a fun ride. Still living with anemia and PCOS, I now have also been diagnosed as "borderine" hypoglycemic. I have bouts of it frequently, nearly daily, so I consider myself to actually BE hypoglycemic and have to drink juice every day just to stay somewhat stable. Anemia and PCOS are similar in some ways as anemia makes you tired, weak and dizzy, but so does the PCOS for many, many women. Team this up with having periods that practically NEVER stopped and were always EXTREMELY heavy, I wouldn't want ANYONE to go through what I've had to suffer through. I've passed out because of how much blood I've lost and how weak I've gotten. You need to be careful and depending on how bad your anemia is, you may need iron supplements like I do. Talk to your Dr. about this and see if it's manageable with your diet or if it's severe enough to warrant supplements. Please be careful though, I'd hate to see another person suffer like I am. It's not fun by any means. Take care, and good luck.
