Re: Othro 35-is it good? **ALSO UPDATE FOR ME**

Hi there! I was on the Ortho 1/35 for about a year and as far as regulating me, it was the ONLY thing that worked. I did notice gradual weight gain (which I'm still experiencing after stopping it in Jan.) but I'd rather have that and a normal cycle than bleed constantly and "maintain" my weight. I think the weight fluctuating has always been PCOS related due to my insulin sensitivity, which is only NOW getting issued with the Dr's. Actually, I stopped the Met and will start on the Ortho 1/35 again on Sunday. I didn't have any side effects other than occasional migraines with it, but I was Rx "Midrin" for those which do work, so they're under control in no more than 1½ hrs. tops). I think it's a good choice for women, however NO ONE will react to it the same way. Our chemistries, hormones and bodies are ALL different. So we really can't say it's a "good" or "bad" choice, but I can tell you MY experience with it. It's true that it has been said that the Ortho does work as an anti androgen, but whether or not it worked for me in that sense, I'm not really sure as I didn't notice much of a difference in that aspect. You'll need to try it and see how it works for you. The only time I got depression from a BCP is when they actually gave me "Necon 1/35". It also made me sick. It's a generic to Ortho which caused me moderate depression. But once I quit that and started on the Ortho, I was fine. Be sure to check about BRAND NAME and generic. Generic usually makes me so SICK that I had to demand that the pharmacy give me the brand name since I refused to take the Necon. They tried forcing it on me, but I said NO. I'm not going to deliberately make myself sick as hell to please anyone. (The Necon isn't even what the Dr. Rx--she Rx the Ortho). As far as my update. The Dr. called me early this morning (about 8:15 actually) and is re-entering my referrals to an RE and the dermatology again. She didn't want to Rx me Avandia or Actos to replace the Met since she's never dealt with them before, so I'll have to speak to the RE about those. She did tell me to start on the Ortho again on Sunday and continue that NORMALLY (not continuously) and see what the RE says. Thank God I'm finally getting something under control. Well, sorry this is so long, but I thought people might be wondering about me. Thanks for all the help and good luck to you.
