Thanks for the helpFrom: Zowie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 26 Feb 2001 17:34:06 -0600 (CST)
Hi everyone, I got back from my appt. today and don't have the UTI any longer, nor am I pregnant (they've done 2 pregnancy tests within 7 days--they just don't believe me!) This Dr. seems to think that all of my problems stem from the fact that my body has gone through so many changes in the past 2 months. I explained about being on the pill, upping the dose, stopping cold turkey and then starting Met......etc. etc. Thank GOD the diarrhea has stopped, and the nausea is going away slowly. I know the Met was causing the diarrhea--it started after taking the first pill and has been going on for over a month. It's just that one side effect, but it's one that I just cannot live with. Nothing helps for the discomfort, nausea and constant diarrhea that it causes, so I'm not going back on it. It totally disrupted my life. At first, I could just "deal with it", but it got so severe I'd end up sick for days being bedridden and practically having to wear nightshirts and no underwear so I could just RUN to the bathroom and go. I know that's very descriptive, but it's the truth. The diarrhea I got was horrible. I can't go through that again. Besides, I didn't notice ANY change in my body other than that, and look at all that it's progressed into. I'm sorry. I know there are those of you that say stick it out because "it will work", but I'm not living through hell with diarrhea in the hopes that Met is right for me. My life is painful and depriving me of social activity as it is. I don't need chronic diarrhea to add to it. I'm still waiting for the damn Dr. to call me back after leaving a message for her on Friday. There's a regulation that military Dr's have to respond within 36 hours for a normal consult. This was an urgent one and apparently this Dr. just doesn't have the time to make a quick 5 minute phone call to me. (They also have the ability to check their messages from any computer, not just at work, so she could have called me at any time this weekend as well). Not only that, but I need her to fix my 2 referrals. Tomorrow is my last day of waiting before I contact the benefits office to see what my other options are. So my basic final report is this, I'm on no new medication, I'm not pregnant (for the 2nd time in a week) and my UTI has gone away. Now, if I could only relax and be HAPPY that my husband is coming home this weekend after being gone for 3 weeks on a ship on the other side of the US I'd be fine! As of today, I'm officially stopping the Met and will hope that this GYN will call me and discuss other options. Thanks for all the feedback ladies. Glad you were here to help me struggle through this. Have a great weekend. Your cyster
