Zowie,

Some women do experience diarrhea with met. I didn't have so much of a problem the first year I was on it, but then about the second year or third, I started having bouts of explosive diarrhea and cramping a lot. I have irritable bowel anyway, which didn't help matters. I finally told my doctor I was going off of it cuz I couldn't take the side effects any more. (After spending a first date in Chicago where I found myself taking Immodium and still suffering cramps and wondering if and when I'd need a bathroom again.)

There have been a LOT of different types of flu and viruses going around this winter, so MAYBE that could have added to your most recent trouble.

I know some of the women who can't tolerate met have been able to take Actos or Avandia instead. My doctor won't discuss them (he's a general practitioner, not a specialist) since they're not PROVEN to work for PCOS. Met is still the medication of choice to try first.....but if you can't tolerate it, there ARE options. I hope you can get ahold of your doctor SOON! *HUG* Hang in there. Let us know how you're doing.

Hugs,

Shelley spryte@dnsonline.net
