Debbie, if your main goal is to conceive, and then worry out correcting the PCOS, your doc my try you in injectable meds. I took prover to start a period, then fertinex (inj. med) to mature my egg, hcg to ovulate and progesterone suppos. to support both of my pregnancies. I didn't take anything between pregancies because I was breast feeding. I am now taking met. I do seem to feel better. My doc went straight to inducing ovulation the quickest way because I had been married 9 years and trying to conceive for a number of years through my regular obgyn and taking clomid. Good luck.

This info might be right, but WITH your doctor, you need to make informed decisions. For YOU, it might be necessary to address some of the PCOS problems FIRST to have optimum chance in conceiving with or without fertility drugs.....maybe things like the different blood/hormonal levels. I also became pregnant with the help of clomid (1984) and Pergonal/Metrodin (1992). Both of my pregnancies were successful and my kids are doing fine.....however, these were the days before the insulin link was known with PCOS. I often wonder if I would have had to go thru so much stress, expense and pain had we been addressing the insulin link issues first. I know of several women who have had success in having biological children once the insulin resistance problem was addressed....some of them achieved this without need of fertility drugs, whereas before they addressed the insulin resistance, they had been unsuccessful in becoming pregnant WITH fertility drugs.

There are no promises what works for one person will work for another. There are no promises that what works one time will work another for the same person (my experiences show this). Medicine is NOT an exact science. Treatment often has to be "fine tuned" to each patient, and sometimes even readjusted at later dates.

Not trying to bring you down...the cycle I conceived my youngest was the one with only one "egg" and it never reached the size my doctor was hoping for. Miracles DO happen. My prayers are with you. *HUG*

Hugs,
