maybe a dumb question about the Pill and PCOSFrom: Gem (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 19 Feb 2001 08:43:34 -0600 (CST)
hi, I am 25 and was diagnosed with PCOS about 2 years ago in Australia after doctors in my own country told me for almost 10 years that the problems I had were common and will go away eventually. My doctor in Australia put me on the Pill to regulate my period which once disappeared for 10 months. I know that by having PCOS means, amongst other things, that my hormones are all over the place. What I am very interested to know is if the Pill will still work as effectively as it should as birth control when my own hormones aren't normal. I am always afraid that it won't and would appreciate it if someone could help me out with this... By the way, if anyone is interested, I've had symptoms of PCOS since I was a teenager and have also had high blood pressure since then. I was told it was because I was overweight. Didn't work well for me as a teenager!! I went on the Pill 2 years ago and for the first time in about 10 years, my blood pressure is as perfect as I am now regular. Thanks for listening.
