Hi Kim, Metformin is NOT related to fertility by any means. It's an insulin sensitizer to help your insulin sensitivity levels. Taking it or not will not have any effect on you conceiving. As far as long term side affects, I don't know. I recently started a month ago and am still having the diarrhea. Other than that, I don't have any side effects and don't even know if it's working or not. I wouldn't change the dose or stop without consulting a doctor first, but again, the Metformin will have no effect whatsoever on conceiving.
