Re: meds for pcos after gastric bypass surgery? From: KIMB (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 11 Feb 2001 20:29:06 -0600 (CST)
I had RNY Gastic Bypass last March after struggling with PCOS. For 20 years I am 33 years old. I had not had more than 1-2 periods a year for the last 2 years. 2 months after surgery they started regular as clock work and a year later every month never fail there it is. GO FIGURE! All of my hormone and insulin levles are very normal. My endocirnoligist while she didn't suggest I do this surgery didn't try to talk me out of it when I told her I was looking into it. I was wondering why it is not consdered a treatment for PCOS. It works. I don't need any medications every complaint I have is gone.. no asthma no apnea no bone and joint paine no gerd. I am however a little worried about becoming pregnant. I am not sure if I should try and if I did become pregnant how my nutritonal malabsorbtion rate would effect a child. Other than that I haven't felt like this since I was 14. Hair growth has reduced greatly. And all other bad parts of PCOS gone forever.
