Hi Julie, Luprondepo is a synthetic GnRH analogue, which blows out the pituitary that regulates the ovarian/menstrual cycle. It brings about amenorrhoea (but not MENOPAUSE). I do not see the reason to have it before hysterctomy, unless it is a vaginal one. Give more details of your condition, your diagnosis and the type of operation planned.
