You should have a hormonal work-up (would root out PCOS), and if you don't respond to treatments (i.e., you ovulate but aren't getting pg), your partner should have a work-up to insure the viability of his sperm. I'm not familiar with "tubal patency," but breaking down the phrase, "tubal" refers to your fallopian tubes and "patency" is defined by Webster's as "the condition of not being blocked or obstructed." So "tubal patency" would be testing to see if your fallopian tubes are blocked (hence an egg would be blocked from descending to the uterus). I strongly recommend finding a RE who can (and will) explain the different tests and take the time to assist you in this journey. Good luck!
