Hi Sam-Louise,

I think you have PCOS and you try to become pregnant. If these are true, you should not discontinue metformin b/c it helps to correct the metabolic imbalance forming the core of PCOS. It may help to conceive in itself. If you (or the gynecologist) do not want to wait, you may add clomid tho the scheme but not substitue clomid for metformin. Infertility is a complex issue, therefore starting on clomid may be tricky before going through a correct work-up (hormonal, hysterosalpingography to check the patency of Fallopian tubes and also examining the semen quality of your partner) That is how it goes Sam > >
