>From Lisa Cooper--

I have been struggleing with PCOS since age 14 and was not diagnosed until 1999. I had no period for a long time and then had a period for 2-3 years non-stop. It got very very bad and I finally found a Gyn who can help me. She did a uterine biopsy and discovered I had Hyperplasia. She put me on Progestrone (Megace) for a couple of years. I was re-biopsied and the Hyperplasia is gone. I have been on Glucophage XR for a couple of months now. I am obese and have been doing Weight Watchers since June 2000 and I have lost 63 pounds. I still have 119 to go. My doctor took me off of the Progestrone pills and said I should have a period and it may be a wicked one concidering it has been so long since I've had one. My question is, has anyone been through this stage yet and if so, does the menstral cycle start right up usually or does it take a while? I have been cramping really bad and swelling up around my lower belly. I have been off of the Progestrone for 5 days now and I am not even spotting yet. I know it is probably me being all nervous about this, but I could use some support from someone who has been where I am. My doctor is very good, but she is new to PCOS. She diagnosed me though. She has been researching and helping me so much. She is a surgeon and would do a hysterectomy if I need one. I think I will be okay, I am just so afraid I will start gushing blood again like I was and I never want to go through that again. This time should be different because of the Glucophage I hope. Any comments or confirming words would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
