ACTOS/SPIRO vs MET..weight loss? side effects?From: Jeannie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 18 Jan 2001 21:53:53 -0600 (CST)
I've been on met for about a year now..I was on only 500mg and have gone up to 2000 mg..My body has adjusted to the side effects and I have no stomach problems..but I am concerned about hair loss (noticed a LOT when I briefly went off the met and weight gain..I've gained 20 lbs, but that was mainly when I was off the met as well, within a 2 month period..I have not had a period in the last 8 months!) I was just reading about ACTOS on their website and they say it often causes weight gain..but I've read several postings saying the opposite..So I'm wondering what people's results have been as far as periods, hair loss/hirsitism (which I have BAD) and weight loss..using a low-carb diet with either met or actos..and what your experiences have been like with spiro..do I have to take spiro for good results with actos?? what about with met?? I am completely confused as to what to do..I don't want to gain anymore weight!! Thanks!
-- I believe also that it is hereditary..My sister and mother do not have it, but my grandmother on my dad's side did.. and I believe that my father and one of my brother's carry the gene..they display the same constant craving for carbs, erc, unlike the rest of my family..(and I believe it led to heart problems for my dad)..
