Ann, I was also diagnosed in November, 2000 after prompting my doctors to test me for PCOS, I recognized all the symptoms from a magazine article and then some follow up research on the web about PCOS. I know what you're going through. I was tested and put on Diane-35 which I'm on my third pack of. I noticed right away the mood swings that came with taking the pill - wow - it was terrible. But sure enough, I've gotten my period each time and that does make me feel better. I try and combat the fatique and moodiness with exercise which saves me and those around me! lol. I've also been reading that diet can affect PCOS, so slightly reducing my carbohydrate intake hasn't been too difficult. Yoga worked best for me right away, and a treadmill (even just walking it). I think it gets better - I'm hopeful. Nothing changes overnight I know, and effects may not be noticeable for several months - but its treatment, and we're tackling it! I'm a little concerned that they told you you won't have children ... Several of the doctors that I saw, all said that pregnancy is still possible although perhaps with the aid of fertility drugs - or not needed at all. ? I hope your feeling better - you can contact me about it if u like ... tonnes of water, soft exercise - and don't forget to be good to yourself while you're going through all this!
