Hi Tiffany, The OrthoTriCyclen is a BCP (birth control pill). It's raved about by so many because it also helps to make and keep your skin clear (a great benefit, especially for PCOSers). I wouldn't consider it "aggressive" by any means however. In my case, as I've seen is the case with MANY PCOSers, they start you off with BCPs as it does change your hormone aspects and can control some of the symptoms (hair growth for one), but you'll never be rid of PCOS. The symptoms may improve, but they don't usually "go away" for good. It's a typical regime that your doctor has put you on a BCP. Since you're just in the first phase, and depending on your doctor, you may have a ways to go before seeing any real results. I, for example, have been on BCPs for nearly 2 years and only now, have I been put on Metformin (a very popular drug amongst us women here). Metformin/Glucophage is prescribed to keep insulin sensitivity levels in check and help with your glucose tolerance level. Many women have even reported weight loss without a change in diet thanks to this drug. However, it does take a few months to see the results. But you're just starting out, so the BCPs might just work for you. However, if they don't, don't let them keep you a guinea pig forever like I was. Just give it some time to truly try it. If you're not seeing any results at all, speak to your doctor about other treatments. There is a LOT that can be found on this website alone. But here are some others I've been given that have been helpful: http://www.infertilityphysician.com/androgen/pcos.html http://www.mja.com.au/public/issues/nov16/kidson/kidson.html http://www.inciid.org/faq/pcos.html HOPE THIS HELPS!! GOOD LUCK TO YA!
