confused about Prometrium and PCOS probs..please HELP!!!From: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 8 Jan 2001 18:42:15 -0600 (CST)
I am recently diagnosed with PCOS (also stating that I had hyperandrogenism and high estrogen levels and insulin resistance) I was prescribed Prometrium for 10 days a month. I am thin 105-110lbs. 5'4" and have had many effects of hormone imbalance my entire life. Acne, irregular periods, etc. After being diagnosed, I searched the internet for more info. I found that hyperandrogenism involves too much male hormone...isn't Prometrium the male hormone? if so, wouldn't I be getting too much and become ill from it? Will Prometrium make my acne worse? Also...I took 5 different birth control pills for over 2 years and was violently ill EVERY SINGLE DAY until I stopped them...wouldn't this have an effect? I am scared to pieces to take this Prometrium but don't know what to do. I have heard sooo many bad things about PCOS and am scared. Any info you can provide will be GREATLY appreciated. Thank You, D
