Re: gonal f and PCOSFrom: Ruth (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 5 Jan 2001 22:31:28 -0600 (CST)
Hi Jennifer - I have become pregnant 3 times on Gonal-F, however, I have miscarried all 3 times. I didn't realize that the miscarriage rate is higher for PCOS women that normal women. The Metformin is supposed to reduce the miscarriage rate so I am trying that. I am trying again next month, too. Good luck to both of us!! Other than being expensive I really didn't have bad side effects or anything. I took it day 3 through about day 12 at about 3 ampules a day. That usually produced about 10 eggs. bock, bock, bock ;-) There is a increased risk of multiples and overstimulation, but can be managed through ultrasound. I didn't think it was that bad after all. I went through 2 IVF and 1 IUI. Since I got pregnant with both methods I am sticking with the IUI (must less invasive and cheaper). Hugs and best wishes to you! Ruth ;-)
