Claire,

My guess would be that your system is getting "shocked" by the sudden change with the medication. I've heard a lot of women find it an advantage to very GRADUALLY work up to the dosage their doctors want them to take. Some have even said they broke their 500 mg tabs in half, taking only half a pill once a day the first week; half a pill twice a day the next week, and continuing to gradually work up to the full dosage.

I highly recommend you try this approach. Keep in mind that unlike antibiotics, where you most likely had been dealing with an infection or something a short time, PCOS is an ongoing thing. I really don't see where taking time to gradually let your system adjust to new medications is going to hurt you. If you hadn't been diagnosed, you wouldn't be getting the meds to begin with. Keep in mind, I'm NOT a medical professional...these are just my opinions!

I'm going to retry taking Glucophage again, myself. I am planning on using this very gradual approach, as the full dosage has caused me the distress you're experiencing, and frankly....I just don't have the TIME to deal with that kind of stuff!

Hope this helps!

Hugs,
