Re: Meridia Life Threatning?????From: Zowie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 2 Jan 2001 19:33:45 -0600 (CST)
I have heard of Meridia and have heard that some heart risks are associated (your doctor should have warned you about that and screened you to see if you should take it or not). Another thing I wanted to mention is that Meridia is a drug to help you control your overeating. It's not a drug to be given to anyone wanting to lose weight---only to those who have a problem overeating. If you're not overeating, Meridia is not for you. At least this is what the TV ads in my area have said. It's sole purpose is _strictly_ to curb your appetite to prevent you from overeating. It can't help with weight loss in any other way. My last doctor told me this as well, as I wanted to look into it to help with my weight issue. But because I don't overeat, Meridia was not for me. Be sure to thoroughly inquire about it with your doctor before taking it. Serious side affects as you mentioned ARE risks and should be inquired about before using. If you were at risk originally, your doctor should have never prescribed it for you. I wish you all luck and hope no one ends up in the hospital over this again.
