Newly diagnosed with PCOS ** long **

Hi, I was recently (actually yesterday) diagnosed with PCOS. I am somewhat still confused what the treatment is. I have gained about 40 pounds in the last 3 years, blaming the *good* food :) (not knowing of Pcos)

My Periods were always normal and on time with no other symptoms. In Sept. of 99 I went on the Depo Provera (BC), I stopped in January of 2000. I just now got my AF back. My GYN wanted me to take Estrogen and then Provera. After the first day of the Estrogen my AF started (according to my GYN on its own). So I stopped taking anything, then he found a cyst, which is reducing its self *yeah* at the moment.

My Husband and I are trying for a baby, but we are both so confused at the moment. My Gyn wants to start me on Clomyd (spelling?), can someone tell me more about this ? Are their other options then the Clomyd ? My Gyn is also a Infertillity Specialist so I am somewhat concerned that he would go the "easiest/fastest" way possible without looking at other options.

I have read a lot about the low-carb dieting, who has experience with that?

I have also noticed a lot of ppl writing about Metformin, can soemone explain this to me?

I apologize about the many questions but my husband and I are both "Newbies" to PCOS. Thanks for your help ;-)
