Getting a doctor to give Metformin!

Did you ladies have trouble getting Metformin? If so, what did you do to make sure you got it?

My doctor refuses to give me the Metformin because she said it will make me hypoglycemic because my blood sugar is not high. I have read that that is not so. Even so, she still refuses. I am fighting her and my insurance company over this.

Since se refuses to give me the Met, I tried to get a referral to another doctor. My RE is the only doctors here that are sort of up to date. NO Endocrinologist's here know squat about PCOS and Metformin. Anyway, this other doctor that I am trying to see is out of state. The insurance company refuses to let me go see him because my RE said that they treat PCOS patients with Metformin but yet she won't give it to me. I am not a good candidate for Metformin/Glucophage because my blood sugar is not high. BLAH BLAH! I refuse to give up but I feel like this fight is going to take a while. Anyone got any pointers for me? Anything would be greatly appreciated!! Michelle
