How do you low carb as a vegetarian? Please Advise! From: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 15 Dec 2000 22:05:52 -0600 (CST)
I've wanted to begin a vegetarian lifestyle for quite sometime, and some months back began reducing my portions of meat intake. As I'm shifting from one source of protein, animal to lentils and such, I was wondering if you ladies had suggestions for me on how to do this successfully. Carbs seem to be the prime staple in a vegetarian diet and of course having PCOS is something in which we all have to be conscious of our carb intake. I love breads. I could exist on bread alone. I just can't seem to low carb it though. I read Sugarbusters and Dr. Atkins and found the latter too restrictive. Sugarbusters seems more of a fit, but I'm having these carb binges in the evening hours which leave me feeling like I'm in a food coma. I'm on Metformin and I've noticed my appetite has reduced drastically, but the carb cravings are still there? Are of you experiencing this, or have? How do you cope? If you ladies have any suggestions or resources you could point me to, please let me know. Thanks so much and Happy Holidays to you all!
