Metformin Dosage

Hi, I've been on Met since early July this year. It took seven weeks to get my first period, and then about every forty days or so since.

I have written to you all perviously about how much the three pills a day (500mg each) was hard for me to keep up with. I noticed that some gals on this list were taking 850 twice a day, so in October, I asked my doctor about changing to that. He suggested that I try 500mg twice a day to see if that was enough.

So for a little over a month, I've been taking only 1000mg, and I have not felt as good, I've been getting cyst type pimples on my back and shoulders, and I'm on about day 50 without a period. So much for that! I'm back to 3 pills a day starting a couple of days ago.

My question is if anyone knows if you take the met three times a day so that it corresponds with meals or so that there is an even amount in your blood stream or what. I was thinking of trying two 500mg in the am and one in the pm, cause the mid day dose is always the hardest for me to keep up with.

I'm going to see my doctor in January, so I'll check with him then, but so far he has sort of let me make most of the decisions. He is an RE at UCLA, and its tough to reach him by phone.

Thanks, Cyrilla
