Sujatha,

I believe that Metformin helps. I've had borderline BP since my early 20's. I've also had fibroids and several ovarian cysts before one Endocrine doctors said that I have PCOS. When I asked what that was the doctor said is just meant that I get cysts on my ovaries so I was clueless for a few years. I finally started doing some research on my own this year and have found a lot of info.

Over the last ten years I have been on several different meds for BP but would have either bad reactions to them or they just didn't work right. Right now I'm taking Univasc and Hydroclorithyozide (I don't know the exact amounts--I don't have them with me right now) and Metformin, about 1500 mg a day. That combo seems to be working at my BP was 122/84 at my last dr appt two weeks ago. My BP went down about 10 pts upper and lower after I started Metformin about 6 months ago. I really feel a difference in my energy! I actually feel like doing something when I get home from work instead of laying on the couch. Unfortunately, I am overweight about 50lbs so that doesn't help. HOWEVER, I still had higher BP when I weighed less.
