Jo Sorry if this response is a little late. Ive been away. I too am in the UK and asked my GP about Metformin. I was told it is only licensed in the UK for diabetes. However, another friend, made through this board originally, started treatment in the spring and has had good results with the met. She is based in London, whereas I am in east anglia. So I guess it depends how much you push, and/or how informed your GP is, as to whether you can get a prescription. I didnt push at all, as I wanted to tackle the problem thru low carbing, and have good results so far.

Hope this is of help, tho obviously it is a bit late for your visit to your GP. How did it go? Best regards SamP
