Re: met blurred visionFrom: Sue (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 10 Nov 2000 11:39:02 -0600 (CST)
>I don't seem to have the other symptoms of lactic acidosis, but this one eye is making me crazy.< I have had lactic acidosis, and vision disturbances aren't typical of it at all. Shortness of breath (or other breathing difficulties and occasionally, an arrythmia) and muscle pain are the main symptoms you need to look for. I did find while hospitalized for lactic acidosis and the ensuing problems that *low* sodium levels cause vision disturbances. My sodium was so low that I was having "spots" and "flashes" before my eyes, and was told that most vision disturbances are a result of sodium and other electrolyte abnormalities. If you've cut out salt and other sources of sodium or are drinking huge amounts of liquid so as to "wash out" your system, you might try adding some salt back in and see how it goes. If things don't get better, I would seriously recommend talking to your Dr.
