Re: currantly taking 1000mg of metformin for pcosFrom: holybuzz (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 10 Nov 2000 10:21:34 -0600 (CST)
Amber, I am so sorry about your past losses, and I hope that you are successful on the metformin. Maybe this will help... I was diagnosed with PCOS about a year and a half ago. Metformin (1500 mg/day) brought back my cycles, but they were still too long (42 days)....after 6 cycles, I decided to try 50 mg Clomid along with the metformin. We conceived on the first cycle of Clomid, and our beautiful baby girl was born in September. I stayed on metformin for the first 7 weeks of my pregnancy, until the baby's heartbeat was confirmed by ultrasound. Even if the metformin does not work on its own, Clomid works much, much better in PCOS when combined with metformin (or similar drugs that reduce insulin resistance). Stay positive, Amber - I wish you all the best!
