Re: PCOS treatmentFrom: jolee (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 3 Nov 2000 09:03:00 -0600
Did the Dr. at least recommed some hormone therapy, like bc pills, or estrogen or numerous other things that could be done to alleviate the symptoms? I have a real problem w/docs that pat you on the head, make sure you drop the cash and send you on your way. Did he even ask if you had any questions about PCOS? Or was it just a "check and run"? With ammenorhea, there is a risk ran for endometriosis (lining builds up, due to not being shed, risk of cancer). The PCOS figures in with weight-gain, higher risk for heart disease, (did not know that till I got into this board. These women are really good at educating.) and diabetes. Not to mention the psycological implications: depression, moodiness, exhaustion, which would fall in with the physical as well. Keep reading, you're in the right place. I would also see if you could get in with an indocrinologist, not a reproductive one, and see what type of therapy he/she would recommend. Good luck, and keep in mind, we all know what you're going through!
