Michelle - your body can get used to almost any drug, which is why the dose would need to be increased (same reason a drug addict needs more and more drugs, to get the same affect), so don't throw out your doctor because of that, he was absolutely correct.

I got pregnant at 19 after going off the pill, and I would do it again if I was trying to have another one (need a husband now). I'm also on glucophage, 850x2/day, which will hopefully help with ovulation.
