Re: gluchophageFrom: ksandra (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 31 Oct 2000 19:00:15 -0600 (CST)
Hi, I just wanted you to know that there isn't really a minimum for glucophage treatment. I work in a pharmacy and have had PCOS for 6 years now. I was put on metformin/glucophage (same thing) 2 years ago starting at 500 2x a day and eventually went up to 1000mg 2x a day. I did get pregnant on the 1000 2x daily. Unfortunatly, I am diabetic also and they put me on the drugs for both reasons. I have done research on the drugs and have seen that they have done successful studies on women that were on 850mg 2xd. If you spend 6 months on the dose you are on and nothing happens, ask your doctor about upping the dose, but I suggest doing it little by little.....glucophage can upset your stomach at higher doses. Let me offer you some advice: Take care of yourself before you get pregnant. I just lost my baby and feel that if I had only taken care of myself a little better before knowing I was pregnant, I'd be in my second trimester right now. Instead, I have an angel. 2 as a matter of fact. Good luck to you. I know how stressfull PCOS can be. I wish you the best.
