PCO What to treat??!!From: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 28 Oct 2000 21:53:11 -0500 (CDT)
I have recently diagnosed myself with PCO and have been researching through the medical community, the internet and through books (Recommended reading: Christine Northrop's Women's Bodies, Women's Minds) My doctors are reluctant to treat or discuss treatment options. I am afraid of Glucophage because I do not want to interfere with my insulin levels which are borderline. I am a little nervous about BCP because I am a light smoker. I tried spirolactone for about a month and did feel a decrease in the stiffness of facial hair, but not enough to continue and I also felt like it was not addressing the real issues. I would like to decrease the hair, improve acne, and lose weight. I do not want to become pg (I'm 39) but do have emotional issues that may or may not be related... Help? Advice?
