Metformin during pregnancy...

Thanks to everyone who responded to me personally regarding my original post about whether or not I should take Metformin while pregnant.

My husband and I have decided to take our chances and NOT use the Metformin during our very first pregnancy.

I spoke with my Endo, Dr. David Ehrmann from the Center For Advanced Medicine at the University of Chicago in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Ehrmann is one of the leaders in PCOS research and was even featured on Dateline NBC in December 1998 because of his efforts. He recommends that I DO NOT take Metformin during pregnancy or while lactating. He said that he is aware of the preliminary research out there supporting the use of Metformin to help prevent early miscarriages, but it is not enough to convince him AT THIS TIME.

I hope this helps some of you out there who were also wondering about this topic.

Thanks again,

Jen
