It sounds like you're experiencing some classic PMS symptoms. One theory is this is caused by too much estrogen RELATIVE to the amount of progesterone. (It's a ratio thing) If you're going to try BC pills you might want to try a progestin (synthetic progesterone) only pill. Most pills have some form of estrogen. You could also go to a good healthfood store and get a natural progesterone cream. Some women use it the last two weeks of their cycle, some use it all the time. Lots of vitamin E (taken w/ C to help utilization)can also help. There are two books by a Dr Lee (What your Dr may not tell you about pre-menapause" and "What your Dr may not tell you about Menapause") that are VERY useful (for any age) in understanding the interplay between hormones. good luck
