Re: spiro & azelexFrom: Avalos (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 13 Oct 2000 07:28:42 -0500
Hi, I've been taking spironolactone since February and one of the side effects that my doctor cautioned me about is dry skin on my arms & legs.. she instructed me to always be sure to drink lots of water & stay well hydrated. Since I've been taking the medication, I have not noticed much of a change... a little drier on my forearms, maybe, but that's it... and I really have not upped my water intake, either. While it's entirely possible that the spironolactone is making your skin drier, it is hard for me to imagine that it would have such an extreme effect on your face only.... if it were the spiro, then it would dry you out in other place, too... and probably not to such an extreme measure... If you are using the azalex on your face, I'll wager that it is causing your trouble, and not the spironolactone... regardless of this speculation, you should talk to the doctor who prescribed this combination for you! Take Care! Now my face is like a prune..so dry..does spiro dry out your face like this or could it be the azelex cream? Neither drug mentions this side effect in literature.
