Metformin/Avandia ComboFrom: Anne-Marie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 12 Oct 2000 01:04:44 -0500 (CDT)
After taking 2000mg of Glucophage a day (1000 mg 2x daily) and not having a period, my endocrinologist told me to add 4 mg of Avandia to my Glucophage regime. Needless to say, 30 days later, I had a cycle. I was reading a posting today from a woman who had normal cycles on lower doses of Glucophage and irregular cycles on higher doses. Has anyone had a similar experience? Also, just because I respond to drugs like Avandia and Rezulin, does that mean I should respond to Glucophage? My doctor seems to think that since I was taking so much and not menstruating that Glucophage isn't the answer for me. I would rather take one drug instead of two, and I'm concerned about the weight gain and risks affiliated with Avandia. I've already gained a couple of pounds and I've only been taking Avandia for a month. I have to admit that I feel pretty discouraged that I'm taking so much medicine. I'm only 23. I'ld appreciate any insight anyone could share with me. Thank you!
