Julie and Susan...

I am also confused. I have been taking bcp's (Ortho Tricyclen) and it seems that I have gained weight because of them. At the present I am taking 1500 mg of glucophage, 50 mg of Casodex, and 300mg of Effexor (Antidepressant) which in the literature says it can cause loss of Appetite and Weight Loss. I am not sure about the Casodex.

I have heard both sides and don't know what to think...My Dr. Wants me on them to help with regulating my period and to help hair growth. Here's the confusion...What pill is the best to be on?? I have heard that Ortho Tricyclen is one of the worst. Also, Here's the second part.

I was taking Rezulin and was just happy as a lark. I had started having a period on my own with no provera or bcp. Thinks were going great ( I thought) Then the next thing I know, my beloved gov. snatched them away from me and my Dr. put me on glucophage AND BCP. I have gained at least 30lbs. over the 4 months I have been taking gluc. and bcp. Although to be honest, I have increased the gluco very slowly and still have reached the full dosage. Will probably start that sometime this week, with my next refill. What should I do? I didn't restart the bcp because I was sure that was the culprit behind my weight gain. Also, if I have periods on my own now, does that mean I am ovulating? This is an important question, because my "Baby" is now 19 years old and I want grandkids NOT Kids!! Lol (Oh brother...Just the thoughts of what my husband would say!!)

Any info would be appreciated!
