Hi Elaine,

The first year or two I was on Glucophage, I wasn't really bothered by the gastric side effects. At times, I might feel slightly queasy and my stools were a little less firm sometimes, but I didn't have the horrid diarrhea until later. During the first year, I dropped about 50 pounds without really changing my lifestyle and eating and excersize . Not everyone will have side effects and if they do, not everyone who has side effects will have such difficulty that they finally decide it's unbearable.

Give it a try. Best time is when you'll be able to be home and relaxed. Since that may be impossible, at least try to make the first couple weeks during a time where you don't have a lot of extra stress or committments.

Best wishes, let us know how you do!

Hugs,

Shelley
