I am from the UK and I agree that the US doctors seem to be more aware. My UK doctors have the mindset that if I don't want to have any more children then I don't need treatment (I was not diagnosed with pcos until six years after having my children). But I am still struggling with the symptoms - overweight, excess facial and body hair, greasy spotty skin, tired, lack of periods, and when they do come I have no idea what to expect. I have finally got my doctor to prescribe metformin after practially begging him, so I'll have to see if that makes any difference.
