Re: Low Carb EasyFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netTue, 26 Sep 2000 11:21:44 EDT
Kathleen, I agree the Atkins diet was a bit extreme for me and made me a little leery ( it has worked for some of our cysters though) But just as an FYI, Robert Atkins who developed the diet IS a doctor, so the book is actually written by a doctor. Now I don't know if there was any medical research done so that part could very well be accurate. :-) Susan J Hi, 2 Years ago I followed the "Sugar Buster" eating plan (they don't like the word diet) and I was able to lose 40 lbs in about 6 months. My cholesterol also went down 20 pts. I was very motivated at the time getting ready for my wedding. I went off the diet on my honeymoon (cruise sorrounded by food) and have put all but 10 lbs back on. It works and the Dr.'s who wrote the book explain why it works and how food and your body work together in laymans terms. They tell you the types of foods that are good and what foods are bad and why, and best times to eat. They provide you with a food "plan" which you are looking for if you choose to go that way. They also include recipies. Sugar Busters follows the low carb high protein principal. Atkins is also low carb diet but I am a bit wary of that diet, it seems to be radical and not written by a Dr. and not supported by any medical research. I started back on Sugar Busters this week
