Re: to Lisa Joseph and your question on AldactoneFrom: Kim (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 25 Sep 2000 18:33:35 -0500 (CDT)
Seems to me that there are alot of cranky people on this site lately. But to answer your question - Aldactone/spironolactone is a medication used to treat high blood pressure. It is also a diuretic. You need to watch your blood pressure to make sure it does not go down too much. I also know that it suppresses the excess androgens in the body which helps to decrease excess hair. Not a wonder drug for sure - but it does seem to help some of us with PCOS. I take 50 mg a day and it has not caused me any side effects to speak of. I am also on 500 mg of met. I hope this answers your question. Remember that this is a SUPPORT SITE - let's be kind to one another. When the nasties start, people leave, just when they need support the most. I left for awhile because of this problem. I realize that people need to vent from time to time, but try to be understanding. We are not all in the same place, at the same time in dealing with PCOS.
