Re: mood swings

I noticed that no one had responded to your message so I thought I'd give you my perspective.

I was on glucophage for about 8 months -- 500 mg at first up to 1500 mg at the end. I noticed that I was horribly moody and cranky most of the time. I would also become extremely hungry -- I was either full or starving, there was no in between. My doctor determined that my body wasn't tolerating the glucophage because it made my blood sugar drop so rapidly. Now I'm on Avandia with no side effects and "perfect" blood sugar (as my doctor tells me). I did lose a few pounds on Glucophage, but not enough to make it worth all the emotional crap. (Now I'm also taking Xenical which has been working wonderfully -- 6 pounds in 2 weeks).

I'm not saying that the glucophage is the problem, just that you should talk to your doctor about what is going on. In my opinion there's no need to take a medicine that (maybe) makes you miserable when there are other alternatives.

Hope this helps, Kelly
