Hi Kris,

I, too started MET this past July. I know what you mean about high hopes on the MET. From what I gather on this board the general opinion is whatever works! Some like to do the herbal approach, others, especially those who can't tolerate glucophage, use Actos or Avandia with good results. The opinions vary. So far I'm very happy with the MET (currently on 1350mg - shooting for 1700mg). I've lost 12 pounds while on it with a moderate diet change (limiting the "bad" carbs and eating more protein), and very moderate exercise (I was walking 30 min a day, now it's about 3 x a week since school started for my 5 year old). But most noticably, I'm less depressed, less hair to pluck on chin and jawline, and the cravings for high carb foods are mostly gone. I don't feel that food is controlling me (ie: the hunger and cravings). I'm ready to get my body back into control, too! I have questions about long term use, too, such as how long have people been on it, is there a chance someday that I can get off of it, etc... Good luck. Keep us posted. :)Monica
