Wellbutrin (anti-depressant)

I would be interested in hearing from any of you that have had or know somebody that has had the following experience with antidepressants: Before I ever knew about PCOS, my doctor recommended & prescribed Zoloft (low dosage) to help balance my mood swings, prevent me from getting so stressed out over issues with my 4 children and to help me control my feelings toward my children when all four are making demands on me in addition to preparing dinner, cleaning out backpack, etc. Sometimes I get so overwhelmed by this that I start screaming at my kids. I don’t like this about me and I certainly don’t think it’s healthy for my children and my husband is very annoyed by my screaming. Well, within a few weeks of starting the Zoloft, my face began to break out cystic acne (I’ve always had problems with acne, but never this cystic stuff!). I am 45 years old, so it’s not a case of going through puberty! My doctor had never heard of a connection with Zoloft & acne but at my insistence switched me over to Celexa. The same thing continued with the acne and I never witnessed any relief in reference to mood swings, etc., so my doctor recommended terminating the Celexa. Although, the acne did not go away; it continued with great insistence and I was very disturbed with this issue. I began to think that acne at 45 was not normal and that I must have some type of hormonal imbalance. This is what finally led me to researching over the internet and making my own PCOS diagnosis before ever seeing an endo. I then started on Metformin & Spironolactone in an attempt to rectify all the various symptoms I have suffered in the last 30+ years. I was hopeful that once I started treatment with the meds, that my mood swings & etc. would be less of a problem (among all the many common symptoms of insulin resistance and PCOS). The summer was very stressful with 4 children being out of school and involved in many summer activities. So I finally requested my doctor to write me a prescription for Wellbutrin (norepinepherine reuptake inhibitor which works by increasing the levels of the neurotransmitters dopamine and norepinephrine in the brain and thereby relieving the symptoms of mood swings), which works differently than Zoloft & Celexa which are SSRI's (Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors and the SSRI’s supposedly increase the brain's level of serotonin or restore levels of the neurotransmitter, serotonin, thus improving mood). This last weekend I yelled & screamed so much at my children to the point of sweating profusely. Every ornery & naughty thing they did really “set me off”. This morning after dropping them off at school, I was reflecting about the weekend. I feel very guilty for losing my temper often and being more out-of-control than usual and then I started wondering: Could it be the Wellbutrin???? I called my doctor’s office and they just told me to go off the Wellbutrin if I think it’s causing me to be emotionally out control. They make it sound so simple! Have any of you had similar experiences with Wellbutrin. Please help! I need some feedback. Thanks in advance. (Sorry this is so long but I felt the necessity to give a little history rather than just asking a straight-forward question!) Sari (http://www.shutton1255@aol.com)
