I'm new and need help!From: Lory (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 3 Sep 2000 17:10:12 -0500 (CDT)
Hi, everyone. I'm a 39-year-old woman who has previously given birth (my son is 10), and I'm trying again to get pregnant. After a year of NOTHING, my gynecologist referred me to a repro endocrinologist who diagnosed PCOS. After the initial gratitude in finding out that I'm not a WEIRDO and that all these symptoms have a reason, now I'm scared and worried about how to get through this. At this point (three months into treatment), I'm taking Provera to start my menstrual cycle, then Clomid to start ovulation. I also just started Glucophage. At my appointment last Wednesday, the ultrasound showed that ovulation had not taken place again....and I am frustrated. My doctor said that we would up the dosage of Clomid this month to 150mg and go from there. The next step would be injectables.....but it seems that my insurance does not cover fertility injectables. (Injectables will cost between $700-$1000 per month.) WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO NOW? I am looking at a ticking clock and a very slim wallet. I would love to speak with any of you who has advice. Does anyone know of a particular insurance company that DOES cover injectables? I'd love all other advice as well.
