Octriatide (sp?) anyone?From: Autumn (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 2 Sep 2000 20:25:43 -0500 (CDT)
I have recently found a wonderful Dr. who has done all the test, who is sympathetic to everything I am going to, and knows that my number one goal right now is to lose the weight I have put on in the last 5 years. He believes me when I say that despite everything (I have always been a very healthy eater) the weight still keeps coming. (I am not trying to get pregnant at this point.) He heard the studies of a Dr. at a conference who used Octriatide (not sure how to spell it) for women who test a certain way on the glucose test. Without changing eating habits, they lost avg. of 1# a week, w/ diet and excersize, he said it could be 2 or 3. 1. Has anyone here tried it? and 2. Did you get your insurance to pay for it? They are writing a letter right now to my insurance to try to get them to, but seeming that it is for weightloss, they might not. (This drug is used I guess to treat some sort of liver problem.) It is a monthly injection that would cost $2,500 a month, so I obviously can't do it without insurance. I would just hate to have this opportunity slip away...
